I.  Introduction

Shijiazhuang Information Engineering College (SIEC) is a fully accredited residential college operating under the authorization and jurisdiction of the Hebei Provincial Government and the State Education Commission.  The College is presently registered and approved to offer certificates, two year and three year diplomas. 

SIEC has applied to become a degree granting institution and expects to be granted University status in 2005.

Shijiazhuang Information Engineering College is located at 39 Xiangjiang Avenue, in the High-Tech Industry Development Zone of Shijiazhuang,  Hebei, P.R. China.  The land area exceeds 1300 Chinese acres and includes fully developed instructional facilities consisting of over 300,000 square meters of buildings.

SIEC has self-contained advanced teaching facilities including state of the art technology.  There is a 1000mb campus network system, foreign language frequency modulation radio stations, conference rooms, library, regular classrooms, computer classrooms and numerous science and technology laboratories.

The College is approved to recruit International students and offers International students twelve specialized majors including:  Computer Application and Maintenance; Computer Science and Information Management; Multi-media and Networking Technology; Software Engineering; Communication Technology and Networking; Computer Graphics, Art and Design; Packing, Decoration and Computer Assisted Design; Electronic Business; Marketing; International Trade and Economics;  Accounting; and Hospitality Management.

Shijiazhuang Information Engineering College collaborates with universities both in China and Internationally in order to provide students with both Chinese and Global perspectives. 

An additional new campus, presently under construction and due to open this year, will include an International College that will focus on global education and meeting the needs of international students.  Students from different countries will be able to mix and enjoy the influence of global perspectives in a conducive and pleasant learning environment.

The present student enrollment is over 8,000.  With the opening of the new campus the student enrollment is expect to double over the next three years.

III.  Opportunities for Success

¢ Students can choose from English or Chinese teaching programs.  Intensive English and Chinese training programs are available.

¢ Students can enroll in certificate, and two or three year diploma programs.  

¢ Students can transfer to other International Programs.  For example, after completing a two or three year SIEC diploma students can transfer to Canada and complete a Bachelor degree program in Kingston College, Canada (subject to meeting visa requirements).

¢ Students who wish to get a Master¨s degree, can transfer and choose programs in the UK, USA, Canada or other countries (subject to meeting visa requirements).

¢ Students will be provided with excellent living conditions.

V. Enrollment Requirements

The following documentation must be submitted: 

  • Photocopy of all pages of the International Student Passport;
  • Photocopy of the High School Diploma/Certificate;
  • Photocopy of the High School Record/Report;
  • Ten Color Passport Sized Photos;
  • Registration Fees;  
  • Completed Application Form. (Refer to Appendix I)

Notes:  

  • Three meals in the college dining hall will cost between RMB10 to RMB15 (US$1.20 to US$1.80) per day.   
  • Fees may be paid in RMB or US$. 
  • The Intensive Chinese program may prepare students to sit for the National Chinese Test
  • The Intensive English program may prepare students to sit for IELTS and/or TOEFL.
  • There are two semesters per academic year.
